What is pelvic physical therapy? What should I expect during this evaluation?
Pelvic physical therapy focuses on the pelvic floor musculature, tendons, ligaments and joints affecting bowel, bladder and sexual function. During the first session your pelvic floor will need to be assessed for strength, endurance, and tender/painful points. This will include an external examination, but may also require an internal pelvic muscular examination, but it is NOT required. That will be discussed during the first session.
